Green Light For Potterdyke
Newark & Sherwood District Council have voted unanimously to approve the comprehensive redevelopment of the 2.5 ha (6.18 acre) Asda foodstore anchored Potterdyke town centre scheme in Newark.
The development is being delivered by a Consortium consisting of Asda Stores, M F Strawson and Simons Developments.
The approved scheme consists of a new 61,500 sq ft foodstore, 13 shop and café units, 414 car parking spaces on two levels, a doctors surgery, Primary Care Trust Health Centre, replacement five-bay bus station and 14 town houses.
Tim Bradford, Partner of Banks Long & Co who are advising the Consortium said:
“We are delighted that the Council have given their full endorsement to this major development. The Consortium have worked closely with the Council and other key stakeholders and have listened and revised the scheme to address as many issues as possible. The Team are now relishing the challenge ahead of them to transform this tired and underdeveloped part of Newark town centre.”
It is hoped that the first phase of development will commence in 2009.
