Monopoly
Money raised has been donated to the Salvation Army.
The six first round games were hard fought affairs with a number of past champions (including Andy Hey the current holder) being knocked out. The finalists were Chartered Surveyor Jane Hiles, Chairman of Halifax Property Services; Solicitor Jane Powell who is Group Secretary of Lincolnshire Co-operative; David Cohen the Regional Manager of HSBC Bank, Ian Green the Regional Manager of Barclays Bank; Robbie Kok of Accountant Deloittes and Herman Kok the Financial Director of Lindum Construction. We, therefore, had two Janes, two bankers and a father and son!
The final began in a very cagey manner with no-one keen to make the first serious move but once the deal making started Robbie then Ian and then Jane Powell were quickly eliminated. Despite one or two audacious moves and all the resources of HSBC, David Cohen was next to go, leaving former Champion Jane Hiles locked in combat with Herman Kok.
For once the builders outdid the Estate Agents and Herman triumphed to become the 2007 champion and first Dutchman to win this competition.
This year the proceeds, which are expected to be over £600.00, are being donated to the Salvation Army for their Lincoln Youth Club Project and by coincidence, representing the Salvation Army was another Dutchman, Major Rudi Bruinewoud. The result was, therefore, Double Dutch.
