Revised plans for Potterdyke development
The Potterdyke Consortium have revised the proposals for a new development for Newark town centre.
Following public consultation, The Potterdyke Consortium have revised the proposals for a new development for Newark town centre. After listening to public opinion, previous plans to provide a new bus facility on the Town Wharf have been dropped. The new Potterdyke development will provide:
- A new bus station on Potterdyke
- A 32,500 sq ft (net) ASDA store
- 11 retail units
- New surgery building on Lombard Street
- New Primary Care Trust Health Centre
The Potterdyke Consortium will shortly submit a package of amendments to the planning applications currently lodged with NSDC. The amendments will be examined by the council before any decision to grant planning permission is made.
Tim Bradford, partner of Banks Long & Co, the agents for the development said, “Following extensive public consultation it became clear that many local residents wanted to see the bus station remain on Potterdyke and more importantly did not want to see a new bus facility on The Wharf. We have amended the plans and have worked with the County Council and bus operators to develop an acceptable on-site layout.”
